Pitch bounced or ignored? Find the right contact before sending again
A bounce-versus-silence decision table, Gmail limits with context, and a routing script for creator brand pitches.

If your brand pitch bounced, fix the error in the delivery notice before sending again; if it got no reply, verify the person's current role and the brand's creator contact channel before changing your send volume. Silence alone does not tell you whether the address, timing or offer was the problem.
The useful split is delivery failed versus no response observed. Treating both as rejection wastes the evidence in your inbox. Treating both as permission to send more can compound a contact problem.
What should I check when a pitch bounces?
Open the returned message and copy its exact reason into your deal record. Google's bounce troubleshooting guide, checked October 31, 2026, separates invalid addresses, filtering, sending limits and recipient-side problems. Use the notice rather than guessing from the subject line.
| Signal | What to check | Next action before another send |
|---|---|---|
| Address does not exist | Spelling, stray spaces and whether the person changed roles | Correct or replace the address; do not retry the same bad address |
| Spam or temporary rejection | Notice text, links, attachments and recipient grouping | Remove the item identified by the notice and review the recipient |
| Sending-limit error | Account type and all mail sent, not just pitches | Pause and follow the provider's recovery guidance |
| Recipient server temporarily unavailable | Whether the notice says temporary failure | Retry later as directed; do not send a burst |
| Recipient storage full | Whether they can receive any mail | Use an established alternate channel or wait for them to clear storage |
| No bounce and no reply | Current role, campaign fit and published contact route | Verify the contact; delivery and interest are still unconfirmed |
A bounce can identify a technical problem. It cannot establish that a brand likes or dislikes your work. And no bounce is not proof that your message reached the primary inbox.
How many brand pitches can I send from Gmail?
There is no universal safe creator-pitch allowance. Google's personal Gmail limits are service limits, not a recommended outreach target. Workspace accounts have different rules, and other restrictions may apply below a headline cap.
| Personal Gmail condition | Published number | What it means for a creator |
|---|---|---|
| Daily email-volume trigger | More than 500 emails in a day | Count other mail too; this is not permission to pitch 500 strangers |
| Recipients in one message | More than 500 recipients | Avoid mass-addressed pitches; verify the intended person |
| Recovery after a limit error | 1–24 hours | Stop when the error appears and follow the notice |
Source: Google, limits for sending and getting mail, opened October 31, 2026. Google's same page says many invalid or bouncing addresses can also cause a sending interruption. Staying below a numerical limit does not guarantee delivery.
For a small reviewable batch, use this Example, not a Google recommendation: five checked contacts on a working day. Inspect delivery notices before the next batch. If two addresses bounce, stop that batch and audit where the contacts came from. The stop rule is a quality-control choice, not an acceptable bounce-rate benchmark.
How do I check whether the person still works there?
Start with the brand's own site: creator application, partnership page or current team listing. Cross-check the person's current public role. A historic launch announcement establishes where they worked then, not today. A guessed address pattern is not verification.
Save the source and the date you checked it beside the contact. If the brand offers a creator application, respect that route. Do not contact several teammates simultaneously to work around one unanswered message, or contact someone who has asked you to stop.
What can I write when I have the wrong contact?
Use the brand's published contact route to ask for routing. This is a contact-check message, not a second full pitch:
Hi [name/team], I create [specific content] for [audience]. Is this the right contact for creator partnerships involving [product/category]? If another team handles that, which public email or application should I use? Thanks, [name].
Fill in the brackets before sending. Do not claim you were referred unless you were. If the team gives you a route, update the original record so the stale address does not get used again.
What should I record today?
Use one record per brand opportunity. Example record: checked contact November 1; delivery state “invalid address”; next action “check the brand's current partnerships page”; due November 2; owner “me.” Keep the raw notice with the record. Once you find the right contact, retain the old address as invalid rather than silently overwriting the history.
The goal is a clean next decision. This guide stops at contact and delivery diagnosis; writing the pitch and setting a follow-up cadence are separate jobs.
What did your last delivery notice actually say?
Frequently asked questions
My brand pitch bounced. Should I send it again?
Read the returned notice first. Correct an invalid address before retrying; follow the notice for temporary failures and sending limits.
Does no reply mean the brand rejected me?
No. Silence does not identify the cause, and no bounce does not prove inbox placement. Check the contact and campaign fit before increasing volume.
How many pitches can I send from personal Gmail?
Google lists sending-limit triggers above 500 emails per day or 500 recipients in one email. These are service limits, not a recommended creator outreach volume or a delivery guarantee.
How do I find the right brand partnerships contact?
Use the brand’s current creator or partnerships page, then cross-check the person’s public role. If uncertain, ask the published contact which team or application handles creator work.
What should I track after an email bounces?
Keep the exact failure reason, the address and its source, when it was checked, and one next action with a date. Mark an invalid address so you do not use it again.
