What Is Content Licensing?

Content licensing is when a creator grants a brand the right to repurpose their content for the brand's own marketing channels — such as ads, website, email, or retail displays — beyond the creator's original post.
Licensing fees typically add 50–200% on top of the base content creation fee, depending on usage scope, duration, and exclusivity. Standard licensing periods are 30, 60, or 90 days. Perpetual (unlimited) licensing commands the highest premium. Creators should always negotiate licensing terms separately from the base content fee.
